Willow on a lake

The painting is the product of Igor Sakharov’s online lesson.

With this painting i loved the process of creating the willow’s branches and leaves. The tricky on the one hand and simple on the other technique gives this impression of outstanding and 3D textures of the tree. You basically just have to create an underpainting with darker colors (AKA shades) and then add straight vertical lines with a palette knife and thicker paint. The mixture of lighter, almost white, colors and some darker greenish ones gives the impression of  dimensional fullness. It was as always a matter of creating a balance between shadows/dark and light
